Mazda 2: Condenser

CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Collect the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING).

3. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT] ).

4. Remove the following parts:

  1. Front bumper (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
  2. Seal board upper (See SEAL BOARD UPPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
  3. Closing plate (See SHROUD PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
  4. Shroud upper plate (See SHROUD PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
  5. Cooling fan component (See COOLING FAN MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] ).
  6. Radiator (See RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION] ).

CAUTION:

5. Remove in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Mazda 2. CONDENSER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

  1. Cooler hose (HI)
  2. Cooler pipe
  3. Condenser

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

7. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST).

Condenser Installation Note

1. After replacing the condenser, add compressor oil to the refrigeration cycle.

Supplemental oil amount (approx. quantity)

CONDENSER INSPECTION

1. Inspect for cracks, damage, and oil leakage.

2. Inspect for fins clogged by dust.

3. Inspect for bent fins.

RECEIVER/DRIER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Collect the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING).

3. Remove the front bumper. (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

4. Remove the seal board upper. (See SEAL BOARD UPPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

5. Remove the closing plate. (See SHROUD PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

CAUTION:

6. Remove in the order indicated in the table. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

Mazda 2. RECEIVER/DRIER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

  1. Bolt
  2. Bolt and nut
  3. Receiver/drier
  4. Bracket

7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

8. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST).

Bolt Removal Note

1. Disconnect the block joint type pipes by grasping female side of the block with hand and holding firmly, then loosen the connection bolt.

Mazda 2. RECEIVER/DRIER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Bolt Installation Note

1. Tighten the bolt of joint by hand.

2. Connect the block joint type pipe by grasping the female side of the block with hand holding firmly, then tighten the connection bolt.

Mazda 2. RECEIVER/DRIER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

3. Tighten the joint to the specified torque.

HEATER HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT] ).

3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

Mazda 2. HEATER HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

  1. Clip
  2. Heater hose
  3. Clip
  4. Quick connector

4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Heater Hose Removal Note

1. While pressing the heater hose into the A/C unit side (1), pinch the quick connector retainer (2), then disconnect the heater hose from the A/C unit (3).

Heater Hose Installation Note

1. Insert the heater hose into the pipe of the A/C unit until a click is heard.

2. While pressing the heater hose quick connector against the A/C unit side, press in the push tab.

3. Verify that the heater hose cannot be pulled out from the A/C unit by lightly pulling the heater hose.
