BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION

WARNING:

Fuel Line Safety Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

2. Remove the fuel-filler cap to release the pressure inside the fuel tank.

3. Remove the fuel pump relay.

4. Connect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

5. Start the engine.

6. After the engine stalls, crank the engine 2-3 times.

7. Switch the ignition to off.

8. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

9. Install the fuel pump relay.

10. Connect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION

WARNING:

Fuel Leakage Inspection

CAUTION:

Using M-MDS

1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2. Switch the ignition to ON.

3. Using the simulation function "FP", start the fuel pump. (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST).

4. Verify that there is no fuel leakage from the pressurized parts.

Standard

5. In the case of fuel leakage, replace the following components and then do the recheck by the fuel leakage checking procedure.

Without using M-MDS

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

2. Remove the fuel pump relay.

CAUTION:

3. Using a jumper wire, short fuel pump relay terminals C and D in the relay and fuse block.

4. Connect the negative battery cable and operate the fuel pump. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

5. Verify that there is no fuel leakage from the pressurized parts.

Standard

6. In the case of fuel leakage, replace the following components and then do the recheck by the fuel leakage checking procedure.
